Halloween Costume: American Horror Story Coven

 

So I have not watched seasons 1 or 2, but somehow I was instantly hooked on American Horror Story's 3rd Season: Coven. It's odd becauseI usually hate scary movies (like I can't even watch horror movie commercials on TV). I know, I'm a wimp. But Coven is more creepy than "Imma jump out and suck your soul." And I have to watch it with my roommates, so they can protect me and stuff. They can protect me from devil conjuring spells right? Maybe it's the fact that it's centered around some BA witches, or the fact that it takes place in New Orleans (WHERE I'M DYING TO GO!), but I completely obsessed.

SO... 

My roommates and I decided to be witches from Miss Robicheaux's Academy for Exceptional Girls.

This costume is so easy and budget friendly. All it takes is a little black. Scratch that, a lot of black.

Main Outfit:

So you can go two different routes for your main outfit. In the actual show the girls all wear different black dresses/outfits. In the trailer, they wear white button ups and black skirts. Both choices are fairly easy. Any black dress/white button up/black skirt you have hanging around in your closet will do.

I decided to go with black dress. I'll probably wear and old one from Zara that's black and lacy. Here are some other options for inspiration:

First Dress: Tobi $47 (but half off for first time users) tobi

Hat:

The girls wear these epic floppy hats in the promo, but in the actual show there's an array of hat styles. So any black hat will do!

First: Ebay has a variety of sellers for this hat that, with shipping, average about $10. But act fast because shipping will take awhile!

Second: Amazon, but at $27 it's a little out of my price range (even with the 2 day Prime shipping). What you could do instead is spray paint a cheap floppy hat black.

Third: This Amazon hat was just too precious not too add, but again its on the pricier side at $24.50 (with Prime shipping)

Sunglasses:

Big sunglasses to hide to hide your wicked eyes! Or you know, to look cool. Forever 21 has the best selection. Most of them are $5.80 and there's a ton of big black glasses to chose from.

Gloves:

Amazon $5.89 or any Halloween Store

Parasole:

For the hardcore Halloweeners, add in a black parasole and assert yourself as the Supreme! (That's the most powerful witch, and in the show she carries a beautiful little parasol).

SO... there you have it! Scary and chic. Add some black eyeliner and dark red lipstick and voila! You're a member of the Coven.
